The wine is obtained from grapes Nebbiolo (in subvarieties Michet and Lampia) produced in the vineyard Rué in the commune of Barolo.

Wine-making and ageing: Fermentation in tanks made of stainless steel thermo-conditioned for 10-12 days. Ageing in french oak casks for 24 months and passage in a bottle in specific fresh and dark places in order to soften the tannins and ensure prevalence of softness and balance during degustation.
Curiosity: This wine derives from the vineyard that has belonged to Germano family for five generations, in the cellar there are still some bottles of the Reserve since the year 1943 that are jealously guarded.
CHARACTERISTICS OF DEGUSTATION
On view: intense garnet red with orange reflections.
Nose: we can feel immediately the aromas of cherries in alcohol, plum and wild rose jam; with the ageing time prevail sensations of tobacco, tar, chocolate and a particularly appealing note of undergrowth and truffles.
Palate: a very refined and balanced taste, younger brother of the Barolo Bussia with a marked elegance from the first years of the ageing.
It's advisable to pour the wine into decanter at least one hour earlier and drink it at 18-20° C temperature.
Gastronomic combinations: it accompanies with a great elegance important first courses such as “risotto in Barolo” and the “Agnolotti del plin” (type of pasta “pinched”), it is splendid with the main courses based on red braised meats such as the oven-baked oxtail or roasted calves, stews and stewed fowl. Sublime with porcino mushrooms cooked in olive oil, parsley and garlic. An excellent alternative also with well-aged cheeses such as the cheese “Castelmagno” and the “Grana Padano”.
Grape harvest 2011
A very hot great year with particularly elevated quantities of sugars in the grapes. During degustation the tannins present themselves softer and sweeter than usually, the wine is appropriate for medium/long-lasting ageing.
Grape harvest 2010
An excellent year with a perfect ripening of the grapes; sugars, acidity and polyphenols are balanced in order to give us the best Barolo. Surely in the future we'll speak again about this grape harvest, also because it has all the characteristics to endure the ageing for many years.
Grape harvest 2009
An elegant year, good acidity and an optimal pH for a Barolo balanced and soft while tasting. Fresher aromas that reminde the small red fruits and the floral flavour of the roses just gathered. It's appropriate for a long-lasting ageing.
Grape harvest 2008
A very hot year with a regular and optimal ripening of the grapes, very rich wine with top-level polyphenols and alcohol. Barolo that is ready to be drunk fairly young. Good for a long-lasting ageing.
Grape harvest 2007
We are in front of an excellent grape harvest, the produced wine uses the softness and the complexity as its greater strong point.
This barolo perfectly balanced in various organoleptic components, from the very beginning presents itself limpid and well-defined while smelling, with suffused tannins and an extraordinary length of flavours. Surely this is a year that can be appreciated better by those who want to approach to Barolo for the first time. It's appropriate for a long-lasting ageing.
Grape harvest 2006
This is e very good year, the wine has a good tannic and acidity freshness, not rich as the previous years but it has great evolutionary possibilities. The barolo is very scented and complex, more feminine and delicate while tasting.
Grape harvest 2005
A good year with weather conditions a little bit anomalous. Thanks to the abundant spring precipitations, it was guaranteed the water-supply to the plants that in this way didn't suffer the particularly sweltering beginning of the summer. As a whole, the grapes ripened well, producing the wines with a good alcoholic gradation, marked colours and intense aroma sensations. It's appropriate for a long-lasting ageing.
Grape harvest 2004
With tannins softly silken, this year is surely the classic one, where the nebbiolo finds its most excellent expression emphasizing all its nobility. Besides the excellent quality, this grape harvest was also characterized by the wealth of the harvest, the fact that is far from being a secondary one. Excellent for a long-lasting ageing.
Grape harvest 2003
The year 2003 was one of the sunniest and hottest of the last years and the Barolo wines obtained express a concentration and an extraordinary length in mouth. This year confers particularly good characteristics of longevity. The main aromas are of ripe fruits and etherealities of leather and chocolate. It is appropriate for ageing.
Grape harvest 2002
Due to the climate particularly unfavourable with a lot of rain, also during all the summer period, the produced grapes had been of very bad quality. In the middle of September a terrible hailstorm damaged the grapes in phase of ripening. The musts were poor in sugars and tannins, with elevated acidity, few colour and general imbalance. In this sad year we decided to not produce the wine Barolo.
Grape harvest 2001
It's surely the best year of the last twenty years. This Barolo has a remarkable body and particularly structured and intense tannins, this one makes it more vigorous while tasting during its first years in bottle, and this is exactly the characteristic that permits it a long-lasting ageing (till 40 years). The main characteristics of this wine are those of a classic Barolo, rich of aromas, ethereal, with scents of leather and chocolate.
Grape harvest 2000
With a tonality particularly intense, deep ruby red with garnet reflections, this Barolo 2000 emits in the mouth an intense aroma of undergrowth and violet. Surely it will pass into the history also for the peculiarity of the year, for once without interpreting it like a weather trend but like a year, 2000, the passage from one millennium to another!

The wine presents itself of ruby red colour with garnet reflections, the scents are varied and intense, being a year of young character, it prevails the fruity scent, especially of small red berry fruits. The Barolo obtained from this vineyard has structured and intense tannins, this one makes it more vigorous while tasting during its first years in bottle, and this is exactly the characteristic that permits it a long-lasting ageing.
Grape harvest 1998
Of good colour, the year 1998 results soft while tasting for more elevated alcoholic degree regarding other years. The tannins are soft and well mixed in the structure of the wine, this Barolo can be appreciated right off but it can be also conserved for a long period of time.
Grape harvest 1997
1997 is the particularly famous year because it was an excellent year almost in all the wine regions of Italy, such kind of success had a great feedback for the attention dedicated also from mass media. The aroma presents itself ethereal with scents of dried fruits combined with aromas even more characteristic as the rose and aromatic as the clove. The rim (where the surface of the wine touches the crystal of the wine glass) tends to orange and the body, while tasting, results by now fuller and softer, richer and intenser.
Grape harvest 1996
By this time we are in front of “Mr.” Barolo, in full of its organoleptic ripening. A Barolo that involves all the characteristic aromas: from the dried fruits to the withered rose, from the clove to the berry of chocolate. The rim (where the surface of the wine touches the crystal of the wine glass) tends to orange and the intense ruby softens to get a more elegant red of brick colour. While tasting, it results complete and soft, rich and intense, achieving the fineness and the balance that distinguish this noble wine. Reached this degree of ageing, one can understand why it is also named “meditation” wine: as for us, a good wine glass of Barolo can easily replace a classic brandy or cognac sipped calmly, exactly to be appreciated in all its range of aromas and tastes that come to light and transform with a pass of time.
